Coastal Journalism Hub builds the relationships and reporting infrastructure that make stronger coverage possible. We connect community insight, research, engagement, and journalism so stories about health in coastal North Carolina are deeper, more accurate, and grounded in the experiences of the people most impacted.
We advance a media ecosystem for health—one that helps residents understand the forces shaping their wellbeing, elevates local solutions, and supports communities working toward lasting change.

Who’s in the Network
Coastal Journalism Hub is a nonprofit network of local news organizations, arts institutions, health and human services groups, and civic partners. Network members collaborate on reporting, community listening, training, and public storytelling focused on the conditions that shape community health. The network continues to grow as partners come together around shared priorities and place-based work.
We are building this network through long-standing relationships and a shared commitment to coastal communities.
Why Health
Health is more than hospitals and clinics. It is housing, clean air and water, fair work, safe streets, strong schools, and the ability to shape decisions that affect our lives.
By connecting journalism with on-the-ground community work and research, Coastal Journalism Hub helps people see the full picture: what’s working, what’s not, and where local solutions are already taking root.
